Joint Hunger Strike Declared
In a significant escalation of the ongoing demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has officially aligned its volunteers with environmentalist and educational reformer Sonam Wangchuk.
Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike demanding structural education reforms and statehood safeguards, welcomed the youth collective. On July 16, 2026, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced that party members would join a 24-hour token relay hunger strike in solidarity.
The Unification of Demands
The joint protest links two critical national crises:
- Educational Failures: Addressing the paper leak scandals that jeopardize the futures of millions of youth.
- Ecological Survival: Demanding constitutional safeguards for high-altitude regions and fragile habitats, including Ladakh’s inclusion in the Sixth Schedule.
Public Support
Opposition leaders, civil society groups, and student activists have visited the unified protest site. The CJP reiterated its stance as a horizontal, citizen-run movement operating on zero external funding, inviting all citizens to show solidarity peacefully.
